  A DOUBLE LIFE - What's the worst case you've seen

  lots of jw's lead a double life.

  many are young people that simply go through the motions until they can free themselves .

  others have relatives or family still trapped .

  Yep, an elder in my lasy cong, mid 40's, been with his wife since high school, gave talks on marriage etc and talk on dc. They had no kids and couldn't conceive so he put her thru ivf to make babies. She had two girls, and all the time he was making family with his wife he had a woman on the side, and she even came to the dc to hear his talk. He also embezzled from the contribution box, and a sister caught him but they disfellowshipped her for lying...and he swore like a trooper at his work and embezzled there as well. He lost that job but got another.

  Eventually be was caught after 5 years with the other woman while his kids were about 2and 4...dfd. rocked the congregation. I had also known an elder and Pioneer who had been the exemplary family always interviewed who had been conning brothers... Got stepped down as elder but not dfd, moved interstate. Made me start wondering if the whole org was rotten in the core like these two creeps, and boy was I right.

  Marriage only possible as an M.S. as a JW???

  it seemed to me for a male jw to begin the steps of dating and eventually getting married you at least had to be an m.s.

  to get anywhere with a sister at least a decent sister.

  i'm wondering if others felt this way?

  Some young, pretty sisters might only look at young, good looking ms. Seriously though, I saw the most ugly jw guys marrying good looking women and women marrying anyone they could get, even from a young age. Some women were determined to get the nice ministerial servants with personality but are now old maids. But I've known all sorts of jws, functional and dysfunctional, ms, pioneer, born in n converts, get married. I've always thought though, that if you're a single jw male 30+ there must be something terribly wrong with you, unless you've already been married n divorced, cuz there are so few jw men to go around.

  How bad is the nepotism really with the appointments of elders?

  i've seen brothers related or who are friends of elders who get appointed after only 6-12 months as an m.s.

  while they were other brothers slaving away for years.

  elders also who promote their sons and basically say to other young brothers "to heck with everyone else".

  jw literature is racist as hell.

  jesus looks like an american folk singer, the governing body look like a corrupt version of an enron luncheon.. the jw's literally print different magazines for africa with african pictures, black people instead of white, to make it 'more appealing' to them.... just to be clear that means they think the opposite is true too!.

  ....and then there is the lack of black angels..... .

  It's a JW thing. We all had to sugar coat the cult to non believers when we were in. We all had to only select the information that would put the cult in a positive at best and not negative at worst light. It's all about impressions and appearances. The facts must be treated very flexibly in order to make unbelievers think JWs are normal.

  COMPETITION IN THE CONGREGATION!

  there always seemed to be a level of unspoken competition within the congregation.

  wether it be between elders, ms, pioneers, etc... who's kids are doing more, who gets more hours out, who comments the most or the best, who gives the best parts, whos kids are the best, who has the better car, who has the better house, who has the better job and so on... it's not openly discussed but you can discern it through conversations, sometimes you can hear undertones of jealousy or meddling in others business, this always bothered me!

  if this is gods organization whats with all the jealousy and competiton, i would see other religions or organizatons with less of these issues and question it!.

  I think inside JWs or outside JWs, in any organisation that has ever existed, there has and always will be nepotism. It is part of the human condition for many people. We always want to look after our own. It can be seen in corporations, sports, churches, politics, business, the local fruit shop, schools, armies- anywhere humans gather and organise.

  i am pleased to announce that i get to retain my bottom intact for the foreseeable future.. .

  milestone check-up just done.

  i had a stage 3, 4t anal canal cancer for which i underwent chemo and radiation this past spring.
